Montrose Behavioral Health Hospital for Children & Teens, located in Chicago, Illinois, is a leading choice for inpatient behavioral health programming for adolescents ages 12-17.
Who We Treat
Children and teenagers need a customized approach to mental health and addiction treatment that meets them where they are developmentally, emotionally, and behaviorally. At Montrose Behavioral Health Hospital for Children & Teens, our team is committed to providing age-appropriate care that does exactly that.
We offer programming for children and adolescents who are suffering from symptoms of behavioral health concerns, including the following:
- Depression
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Bipolar disorder
- Psychosis
- Addiction
We also provide tailored programming for kids who are struggling with symptoms of co-occurring concerns like autism spectrum disorder, intermittent explosive disorder (IED), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, panic disorder, and phobias. Additionally, children and adolescents who are suffering from suicidal ideation or are participating in self-harming behaviors can receive compassionate care from professionals who have extensive experience working with young people who are struggling with these types of symptoms.
Why Choose Inpatient Treatment?
There are many different levels of care available for children and adolescents who are struggling with behavioral health concerns, including residential treatment, various types of outpatient programming, and inpatient care.
Inpatient treatment is specifically designed for people who are in a state of crisis, who need services to help them stabilize, or who are a danger to themselves or others. This is a short-term level of care, with programming at our inpatient center typically lasting between five and seven days. During this time, kids meet with experienced mental health professionals who provide evidence-based services like group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy.
We believe that children and adolescents tend to be more comfortable when they are surrounded by others who are close to their age. For that reason, kids who receive care in our inpatient program stay in separate units based on their age. We are now accepting adolescents ages 12-17. We also have a unit for children age 12 and younger.
Our multidisciplinary team is made up of professionals who are experts in the field of behavioral healthcare. Children and teens in our inpatient program may have the opportunity to work with psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors, art therapists, recreational therapists, and dietitians, among others. This team works diligently to make sure that all patients receive the clinically excellent care they need to heal.
Admissions
The admissions process at Montrose Behavioral Health Hospital for Children & Teens is designed to be as streamlined and seamless as possible.
If your child needs inpatient programming, you can schedule an intake appointment by calling us directly, or you can simply walk in at a time that is convenient for you. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide assessments at no cost. We also work directly with outside professionals and other hospitals that can refer patients to us.
Once you and your child have completed the initial intake assessment, our staff will call the psychiatrist to get a doctor’s order for admission. We will then walk you through the registration process, provide a safety assessment, and deliver a comprehensive evaluation to determine the most appropriate level of care for your child. Our clinicians will work with your insurance company or discuss alternative payment arrangements. They will then give you an overview of what to expect while your child is in treatment.
